Converting NSF files to PST file format will help you export mailbox data in Outlook. This will serve as a backup when network connection to the IBM Notes server is not available. You can access NSF data in your Outlook application, as and when required. The method to convert NSF to PST file comprises two steps:

Step 1 – Export IBM Notes database to CSV

  1. Open IBM Notes, and click File > Export
  2. In Export window that appears, select the location you want to save your file.method 3 step 2

  2. In Import a File dialog box, select ‘Comma Separated Values’ option and click Next.import step 4
  3. Click Browse to select CSV file you want to import into Outlook. Choose any one option under Options, and hit Next.import step 5
  4. Click Finish.

Your IBM Notes file data will be converted into PST format.

Wrapping Up

You can choose any of the above methods for backing up your Notes files. But, these methods have certain limitations.

NSF archived file, just like any system file, is prone to corruption, which may result in data loss. You cannot convert NSF e-mails to PDF without Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker. To convert NSF File to Outlook PST manually can be time-consuming and involves risk of data loss.

A better alternative is to use a specialized NSF to PST converter tool such as Stellar Converter for NSF or any other. The tool converts multiple IBM Notes NSF files into PST files. Also, it saves Notes file in EML, MSG, HTML and PDF file formats. Thus, you can have back up of your IBM Notes file in multiple formats. And, unlike the manual process of exporting NSF database to CSV file and then importing CSV in Outlook, the converter tool directly converts NSF files to PSTs.
